Our seasonal farm shop is open from around the third week of April until the third week of June for sales of our fresh, home-grown asparagus. Exact dates will vary year on year depending on the season and the weather. We also supply many secondary wholesale and local retail outlets as well as local pubs and restaurants.
From the roundabout in Groombridge, head through the village past the shops, over the railway bridge and Birchden Farm will be found after about half a mile on the left.
From the A26 (Tunbridge Wells to Crowborough road) turn into Broadwater Forest Lane signed to Groombridge, follow for about three miles and Birchden Farm will be found on the right.
Birchden Asparagus is a trading style of S.B. Farming, formed in 1997 thus celebrating 25 years of trading in 2022.
We started by growing asparagus, strawberries and raspberries for the supermarkets, but found that the real demand was for freshly cut asparagus available for local sales so we increased the asparagus area to around 30 acres and started selling direct at roadside stalls, farmers markets as well as at our seasonal farm shop and to the local wholesale trade.
We also operate a Pick Your Own pumpkin enterprise in October, growing around 40,000 pumpkins.
